Social House Restaurant- Crystals at CityCenter (opening summer 2010)

Executive Chef

Chef Joseph Elevado’s philosophy of food is to use the freshest ingredients and create dishes that are easily interpreted by his guests. He has created a culinary style that embraces tradition yet is expanded through inspiration drawn from international culinary exploration.

Joseph’s passion for food has developed into a passion for culinary travel and the role cuisine has in cultures around the world. From the simple to the exotic, he finds inspiration in traveling to eat. His travels have made him a proponent of the notion that in America we need to spend more time enjoying the experience of eating, not just the food, but the quality time spent with family and friends.

Joseph was born in Staten Island, New York. Growing-up in this multi-cultural city he was exposed very early to a diverse array of international cuisines and developed a passion for food.

He became fascinated by the technical aspects of culinary shows like “Julia Child & Company” and “Yan Can Cook” on PBS. He was inspired to experiment in the kitchen after school along helping his mother prepare family meals.

He studied the art of food at the New York Restaurant School in downtown Manhattan where he graduated in 1996. His first job was with the New York Friars Club where he worked as a line cook. There he assisted in the preparation of everything from daily menu items to multi-course catered meals in the confines of a busy kitchen.

In 1997, Joseph joined renowned Chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa’s Nobu NYC as a Master Cook. While working at this flagship restaurant he honed his skills in classic Japanese food preparation, Japanese aesthetics and Asian flavor combinations. From Chef Nobu he learned discipline, attention to detail and to appreciate the notion that a kitchen is a family, and every person from the dishwasher to the Head Chef is important.

Joseph spent more than eight years of tutelage under Chef Nobu where he ascended to the role of Executive Chef at Nobu Las Vegas.

Joseph developed his own unique style of cooking that reflects his extensive training and love for Asian cuisines. It was at this time that he partnered with nightlife innovators, PURE Management Group, to open Social House, an innovative Pan Asian restaurant located at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joseph became the Executive Chef for the Social House brand, a title he still holds.

Social House opened in August of 2006 and revolutionized sushi restaurants in Las Vegas with its unrivaled décor, exuberant vibe and exquisite cuisine. Social House immediately gained a cult following among celebrities and trendsetters. Social House also featured a live DJ and an interactive sushi bar. Under Joseph the Social House menu developed into a masterpiece of Japanese/ Southeast Asian cuisine and sushi relying on an eclectic blend of Asian and world flavors prepared with the freshest ingredients and a keen eye for presentation.

The dining experience was fun, hip and alive under the Social House tag line of “Sushi• Sake•Socialize.”

PURE Management Group closed the Social House at Treasure Island in summer 2009 in order to concentrate on moving the restaurant to a new location in Crystals at CityCenter.

Opening in early summer 2010, the new Social House under Joseph is poised to deliver a bold dining experience that is eclectic yet approachable, tranquil yet social and understated yet memorable.
